Volumes that are only guesses
Keyword tools estimate search volume from outside Amazon. Plans built on estimates put budget behind searches fewer shoppers make than you think.
A senior strategist builds your keyword list from Amazon’s own data, not tool guesses, scores every term for volume, fit and sales, and gives each keyword one home: your title, your listing, your backend or a campaign.

Amazon keyword research is finding the words shoppers type into Amazon search for products like yours, measuring how often they search and buy, and deciding where each word goes: your title, bullets, backend search terms or a campaign.
Where the data comes from
Amazon sourcesSearch volume for your top searches, with your brand’s share of impressions, clicks and purchases.
The exact searches behind your clicks and sales. Amazon keeps about 60 days in the ads console, so we save it.
Your impression share and rank against other advertisers, search by search.
The three most-clicked products on each search, with their click and conversion share.
Search terms grouped by what shoppers view and buy after searching, with search volume.
Most keyword lists come from one tool export. These four gaps cost you clicks you pay for, and sales you never see.
Keyword tools estimate search volume from outside Amazon. Plans built on estimates put budget behind searches fewer shoppers make than you think.
Broad and wrong-fit searches pick up clicks from shoppers who want a different product.
Specific searches often convert best and cost less per click. Most keyword lists stop at the big head terms.
A 2,000-row export does nothing on its own. With a 75-character title, you have to choose what goes where.
Amazon PPC keyword research and listing research usually live in separate files. We build one map for both, in four steps.
Your search terms, SQP, Top Search Terms, impression share and rival listings, pulled into one list.
Every term scored on how often it is searched, how well it fits your product and how well it converts.
Each keyword gets one home, from your title to an exact-match campaign or a negative.
New search terms from your ads go back into the list, and the map is updated.
Seeds, volume, relevance, gaps, mapping and negatives. Pick one to see what it covers.
We start with the searches that already bring you clicks and sales, then add searches from SQP, Top Search Terms, rival listings and the questions shoppers ask in reviews.
Seed sources · sample
In your map| Source | Terms found | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Search term report | 1,240 | 212 |
| SQP | 1,000 | 146 |
| Top Search Terms | 420 | 54 |
For your top searches, SQP shows how many shoppers search each week. Brand Analytics ranks every search by how often it is searched. We use those numbers first, and tool estimates only to fill gaps.
Weekly searches · sample
In your map| Search | Searches | Source |
|---|---|---|
| “slow feeder dog bowl” | 41.2k | SQP |
| “dog bowl for fast eaters” | 9.8k | SQP |
| “anti gulp bowl” | 1.4k | Estimate |
A search can be big and still wrong for you. We check each term against your product by hand, then use click and conversion share to see whether shoppers who search it buy products like yours.
Relevance · sample
In your map| Search | Fit | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| “slow feeder dog bowl” | Exact | Core |
| “puzzle feeder for dogs” | Close | Test |
| “cat slow feeder” | Wrong pet | Negative |
The impression share report shows how often your ads appear on each search compared with other advertisers. Put next to SQP, it shows the searches where shoppers buy but you barely show up.
Impression share · sample
In your map| Search | Your share | Gap |
|---|---|---|
| “dog bowl for large dogs” | 4% | Big |
| “slow feeder dog bowl” | 22% | Medium |
| “metal dog bowl” | 31% | Small |
Titles now have 75 characters, Item Highlights 125 and backend search terms 249 bytes. So each keyword gets one place: the strongest in the title, the next in Item Highlights and bullets, the rest in the backend or a campaign.
Keyword homes · sample
In your map| Keyword | Home | Ads |
|---|---|---|
| “slow feeder dog bowl” | Title | Exact |
| “dog bowl for fast eaters” | Highlights | Phrase |
| “anti gulp bowl” | Backend | Exact |
Searches that spend without selling, or that want a different product, become negative keywords. We review them every month, so a term that starts to sell is not blocked for good.
Negatives · sample
In your map| Search | Spend, no sale | Action |
|---|---|---|
| “dog bowl stand” | $412 | Negative |
| “cat slow feeder” | $286 | Negative |
| “large dog feeder” | $64 | Watch |
