Home, garden and outdoor brands

Amazon PPC agency for home and outdoor brands

Outdoor and garden demand builds from early spring to midsummer, and big, bulky items carry higher fulfilment fees. A senior strategist builds budgets up before spring, sets targets from the margin left after fees, and sells add-ons with the main item.

What decides share

What decides share in home and outdoor

Home and outdoor is won in a short season, on big items where fees take more of the price than shoppers see.

Home and outdoor at a glance

Four things
SeasonMar-Jul

Most sales in a few months

Patio, garden and outdoor demand builds from early spring to midsummer, and much of the year is quiet.

FeesHigh

Bulky items cost more to ship

Large items carry higher fulfilment fees, so the margin left for ads is smaller than the price suggests.

Add-onsMany

Covers, parts and refills

A cover, a hose fitting or a set of bulbs sells best next to the item it goes with.

MarketsReversed

Australia runs the other way

In Australia the outdoor season runs from September into summer, so the plan moves with it.

Where the money goes

Where home and outdoor brands lose share

Four gaps we see most in home and outdoor accounts.

Budgets that start in the peak

Spend starts when demand is already high and clicks cost the most, and the season ends before the ads catch up.

02Leak

Targets that ignore fees

An ACoS target set on price looks fine until the fees on a bulky item take the margin.

FixTargets set from margin after fees.
03Leak

Add-ons sold alone

Covers and parts are left to find buyers on their own instead of next to the item they fit.

Spend left on after the season

Budgets sized for June keep running into a quiet August.

Rules that move ads

What Amazon requires, and what it means for home and outdoor ads

Two rules decide whether home and outdoor ads run, and whether they pay.

  • Every category
What Amazon requiresA featured offer and stock in hand
    What it means for ads

Sponsored Products ads do not show without the featured offer or when out of stock. We check both weekly.

  • Large and bulky items
What Amazon requiresHigher FBA fees for large and heavy products
    What it means for ads

Fees can take a big share of the price, so targets are set from the margin left after fees.

FAQ

Home and outdoor brand FAQs

Straight answers, no sales spin.

Do you work with home and outdoor brands?
Yes. We run Amazon ads for patio, garden, outdoor living and home goods brands on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.au.
When should outdoor brands start their ads?
Weeks before demand rises. We build budgets up from late winter, so campaigns have data when spring searches climb, then ease spend as the season ends. In Australia the same plan starts in August.
How do fees on bulky items change PPC?
Large items carry higher fulfilment fees, so a price that looks healthy can leave little for ads. We set ACoS targets from the margin left after fees, product by product.
How much does Amazon PPC management cost for a home and outdoor brand?
One flat monthly fee: $1,000, $2,500 or $5,000 a month, set by your ad spend. It is never a percentage of your ad spend, there is no setup fee, and you can leave with 30 days' notice.
Should a home and outdoor brand hire an agency or build in-house?
It depends on your spend and your team. At $40,000 a month in ad spend, an in-house hire costs about $6,000 a month in pay against our $2,500 flat fee, but gives you someone full-time. Many brands start with an agency and hire later.
Do you work with home and outdoor brands in the UK and Australia?
Yes. We work with brands on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.au, with keywords, targets and a calendar for each marketplace.
